Two new sets of images claiming to show the upcoming design of the so-called iPhone 8 due out later this year have shown up in Chinese social media today. Supposedly the upcoming iPod touch is confirmed to be carrying a back-camera and this is something we are all pretty certain about. The brand-new details unearthed tonight are a completely new back coming to the iPod touch. This back will lose the contour curvature from recent generations and revert back to something similar to first generation iPod touch design. (Remember: This follows what our sources told us back in early July) Think of the lid of a MacBook Pro; the direct top/center of the lid is completely flat but the sides are slightly curved....

Last October we showed you an impressive iWatch concept based on Nike’s Fuel Band device. The mockup was quite impressive as it appears modern and sleek and mirrors a design Apple could produce, but commenters were quick to point out the orientation of the display wasn’t fit for primetime. UI designer Todd Hamilton picked up on this and decided to iterate on that concept while solving the orientation problem: The result is quite nice as it maintains the same function as the previous wearable concept while iterating a step further on usability....

Apple’s new Mac mini and iMac lines will feature price-points that are similar to those of their current models (depending on country). The three Mac mini models will likely be priced at the same $599, $799, and $999 for the two standard models and single server model, respectively. The new iMacs will also feature similar or same pricing as the current iMacs, but the top 27-inch and 21.5-inch models may feature slightly cheaper pricing in some countries....

A new survey from Loup Ventures aims to offer color on what percentage of Apple’s current iPhone users plan to upgrade to this year’s yet-to-be-announced models. The survey ultimately indicates that the iPhone is “settling into a lower growth, more predictable rhythm.” Loup Ventures surveyed a total of 511 people in the United States, 226 of which currently own an iPhone. The results show that 22 percent of current iPhone users intend to upgrade their device come this fall when Apple announces new models for its iPhone lineup....

Back in December, the New World devs announced that they’d made some changes to the PvP system - a coveted mechanic - in the game following its alpha phase. Turns out, they saw a lot of high-level players griefing low-level players, so much so that it produced a pretty toxic online culture. So, they were changing things up, and a lot of their changes were covered in the video below. PvP will be less of a focus for the game, and players will have to actually turn the feature on once they reach a high enough level....

There are people—yours truly included—who felt genuinely dumbfounded having read both the authorized “Steve Jobs” biography by Walter Isaacson and Adam Lashinsky’s “Inside Apple.” Do not get me wrong, Isaacson and Lashinsky are among the best contemporary wordsmiths, and their work enlightened us with some previously unknown details about the inner-workings of Apple and the man who cofounded it. Nonetheless, the authors dedicated way too many pages to the stuff we already knew, and their writing style may not appeal to the Technorati accustomed to fast-paced news reporting and sensationalist headlines....
