The Twitter account AppleDemoYT is notorious for sharing Apple prototypes, and today they’ve shared a first look at some never-before-seen prototype lightning cables. Lightning was marketed as a major improvement over the old iPod 30-pin connector primarily for its ability to be reversible. But this prototype calls into question if that was intended to be the case from the start. When lightning was introduced alongside the iPhone 5 in 2012, Apple’s pitch was that it was digital, smaller, and reversible....

The Pokémon Company held a press conference this evening and shared four announcements for upcoming hardware and software releases. One new focus is using Pokémon to help users get a good night’s sleep with both new hardware and software. The company also teased the upcoming “Pokémon Home” cloud service and more. A new analyst survey published today offers some insight as to what consumers are looking for in future generation iPhones. Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson shared the results of a survey he conducted with 1,500 people who did not recently purchase a new iPhone, finding three primary factors preventing those users from upgrading… The survey, the results of which were shared by Barron’s, shows that the top reason those people haven’t recently upgraded is because their current iPhone “works just fine,” with 44 percent of people choosing that answer....

Microsoft Rewrites Paint for Windows 10 Earlier this year, leaks previewing universal versions of apps such as Notepad and Paint started appearing on the Windows Store. As reported by Bleeping Computer, a cybersecurity researcher took umbrage when the cybercriminals publicly said they supported Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In revenge, the individual, believed to hail from Ukraine, has been giving the ransomware operators a taste of their own hacking medicine. Conti is a Russian-speaking ransomware group that also operates a ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) business model. While some ransomware payments are made in the millions, Coveware estimates that the average demand made by Conti members is just over $765,000....

A new iPhone 6s/6s Plus passcode bypass flaw is making its rounds on the internet today, and it’s similar to flaws we’ve seen in the past on iOS. Don’t be overly alarmed, though, as the odds of this happening to you are slim. Besides, if you are concerned, there are some bonafide ways to go about protecting yourself. Well, it was bound to happen at some point – Netflix has started to crack down on users sharing passwords. The move comes in what the company calls a test that tells password borrowers to sign up for their own accounts without fully blocking them from continuing to use the currently shared one.
