The Haswell processor has allowed Apple to do some pretty amazing things with its MacBook Air computers. Usually we see incremental improvements in specs but this time around we are seeing game-changing spec bumps. Most amazing is Apple’s claims of battery life that is almost double from the previous MacBook Airs (and which will be further enhanced by Mavericks). The MacBook Air goes from 5 hours to 9 hours while the 13-inch model goes from 7 hours to 12 hours....

The Walking Dead: World Beyond finally announces a premiere date, and reveals it will only run for two seasons. AMC’s Walking Dead slate already seemed pretty full with the flagship series entering its tenth season and the first spinoff Fear the Walking Dead headed into season 6. But last summer, the network nevertheless announced the imminent arrival of yet more TWD content in the form of a second Walking Dead spinoff series....

Quartz notes that Netflix, while not a cable network in the traditional sense, is now viewed more than any traditional U.S. cable market. After several strong quarters of growth, Netflix now has 29.2 million people in the US subscribed to its $8-a-month streaming plan, which is, for the first time, greater than HBO’s domestic subscription base of 28....

The second developer preview of OS X Mountain Lion, which seeded to developers on Saturday, introduced support for location-based reminders in the “Reminders” app. In developer preview 1, users could only create due date-based reminders. Interestingly, it appears the Mac will track your location when connected to Wi-Fi and alert you when you arrive at the specified location, just like an iPhone would. The reminders can also be synced over-the-air to iOS devices using iCloud....

Netflix’s Chambers is essentially a teen horror drama that skirts around notions of identity, race, and grief. It centers on Sasha Yazzie (Sivan Alyra Rose) who in the series’ opening moments suffers a freak, near-fatal heart attack at the age of 17. After receiving a life-saving heart transplant, Sasha begins to experience visions and takes on new personality traits ascribed to the young woman whose untimely death gave her a second lease on life....

Apple has announced that the grand opening for its new Cumberland Mall store in Atlanta, Georgia will take place this Saturday, September 6th at 10 AM. The store will be the sixth Apple retail location in the state. It looks like construction is ready to get underway at the Franklin Park Mall location in Toledo as well, which will become the eighth store in Ohio. The iconic black barricades that usually precede the appearance of an Apple Store have been put up in front of the upcoming location (as seen in the photo above from Ed Hunter on Twitter)....

Yesterday Apple rolled out its new iTunes Pass service to Japan, allowing users to use a Passbook card to add credit to an iTunes account from an Apple Retail Store. Starting today, the offer is also available in the United States and Australia. Users in Canada, Germany, and the UK are also reporting seeing the feature, though it’s not officially listed on Apple’s website for those countries just yet. To take advantage of this new program, you need to use the iTunes Store app on an iOS device to obtain an iTunes Pass....

A new report by Global Equities Research says Apple’s iTunes will hit $13 billion in revenue in fiscal 2013. To reach that point, GER says iTunes will grow at a rate of 39%, or 13% a year. This report cites all parts of the Apple store ecosystem including music, apps, and books, will contribute to the growth. GER believes the iBookstore will have a major role. The analyst also believe the rising number of iPad apps will contribute to the growth....

A new trailer for the third Walking Dead series reveals a connection to both Fear The Walking Dead and Rick Grimes. In season 9 of The Walking Dead, a heavily-injured Rick sacrificed himself to protect his people from an oncoming zombie horde. Assumed dead, Rick actually washed up on a riverbank, barely clinging to life, and was discovered by Jadis. The former leader of the Junkyard Community used her connections to the mysterious helicopter group to have Rick transported to parts unknown and the hero of the zombie apocalypse hasn’t been spotted on-screen since....

Citing ‘overwhelming demand’, Apple has expanded the number of Apple TV Developer Kits available for registered developers who applied for a chance to receive the pre-release hardware last month. A number of developers (but not all) who previously missed out on the initial wave of test units have been notified by Apple Developer Relations that more dev kits have been made available for $1 and will be available for ordering through next Friday at 5 pm local on October 9th....

Last night Apple TV users started seeing a new channel icon for Netflix as the company recently updated its logo, and today both the iPhone and iPad versions of the Netflix apps were updated to version 6.0 which includes the new design. The updates to both Apple TV and the iPhone and iPad apps don’t bring much else aside from the new logo and slight design tweaks, but the iOS apps do include bug fixes and faster video playback according to Netflix....

Two analysts are predicting a new AAPL high this year, suggesting that the stock could climb to $375 and $400 respectively by the year’s end. While there’s a strong consensus that Apple including 5G support in this year’s iPhones will see a significant surge in sales, analysts D.A. There have been a wide range of both complaints and praises regarding the larger screened iPhones Apple introduced last fall, but this one is new. Matt Bonner, longtime member of the San Antonio Spurs, gave an interview recently in which he blamed a season-changing injury on Apple’s larger screened iPhone (via Yahoo). Bonner revealed that he suffered from tennis elbow in his non-shooting arm for a two-and-half month period during the 2014-2015 NBA season....
