Netflix’s upcoming TV adaptation of The Witcher almost starred Ciri, instead of Geralt. The eight-episode series will revolve around Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter, who will be portrayed by Henry Cavill (Man of Steel). Joining him will be Princess Ciri, portrayed by Freya Allan (Bluebird). It was recently revealed that in an alternate universe, these roles may have been reversed, with Ciri playing the central character in the new show....

Multiple sources are indicating that Apple will launch a new variant of the iPod touch next week. iGen.fr is saying that the same source who leaked information about the early 2013 16 GB 5th generation iPod touch is now saying yet another model will launch in the near future. However, their report does not go into specifics about particular changes. MacRumors believes that the new device will be a modified version of the current 16 GB iPod touch at a lower price point....

The new data gives a look at 4G download and upload speeds, latency, and more for each state as well as a look at the top 50 US cities. According to The Intercept, Ring’s engineers and executives have “highly privileged access” to live camera feeds from customers’ devices. This includes both doorbells facing the outside world, as well as cameras inside a person’s home. A team tasked with annotating video to aid in object recognition captured “people kissing, firing guns, and stealing.” [Update: According to Ring, annotation is only conducted on “publicly shared Ring videos.”] U.S. employees specifically had access to a video portal intended for technical support that reportedly allowed “unfiltered, round-the-clock live feeds from some customer cameras....

Netflix appears to be planning its most expensive streaming tier yet. Currently, the company offers three different tiers, starting at $7.99 per month and maxing out at $13.99. That could soon change, however… According to Italian blog Tutto Android, Netflix is plotting the rollout of a new “Ultra” tier that would be priced at €16.99, which comes out to around $20 per month. Promotional material for this new streaming package indicates that it would essentially be the same as the current “Premium” tier....
