Update: Here are the specs… Apple is preparing to launch a refreshed line of MacBook Air laptops as soon as tomorrow, according to multiple sources. These sources say that shipments of new MacBook Airs have begun arriving in large quantities to Apple Stores across the country. Another source adds that Apple Stores are scheduled to re-arrange the placement of Macs in stores to focus on the MacBook Air tomorrow morning…...

The evidence is ever growing for a MacBook Pro refresh occurring very soon, and three new reports are helping to peg a MacBook Pro refresh for next week. First, AppleBitch notes that some of the Apple online stores for Asia are showing longer than usual shipping times. For example in Taiwan, the 13 inch MacBook Pros are shipping in 2-4 days (versus the normal 24 hours), and the 17 inch model is shipping in 3-5 days....

Here’s iLounges new sourced info with some additions from us: They think that new 1.7 inch screen is coming to the iPod Shuffle (probably eliminating the ‘shuffle’ brand – good?) New iPods coming at some point between Tuesday and September (shocker – there wil be an event in September like the last 5 years). The big deal is that there will be a 7-inch iPad released at that point. We’ve also heard this and can add that there will be a much higher density screen which will be labeled “Retina Display” and have something like an insane 1500×1920 type pixel display (think four iPhone 4 screens)....

There have been signs and indications of China’s growing importance to Apple’s bottom line before. In the June quarter the company grew China revenues sixfold, to an astounding $3.8 billion, or nearly eight percent of its total revenue for the quarter. Just three months later, however, the business in China has ballooned to $4.52 billion, an impressive sixteen percent of Apple’s total $28.27 billion revenue for the September quarter. China contributed with twelve percent in the more than $108 billion of fiscal 2011 revenue, or about fifteen billion dollars....

Netflix releases an official The Witcher map with a detailed timeline of the show’s events. The Witcher TV show is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels and short stories of the same name that follow the travels and travails of Geralt of Rivia, a brutish monster hunter. Sapkowski’s stories were also adapted into the wildly popular The Witcher video games, made by Polish developer CD Projekt Red. Although season one of The Witcher received mixed reviews upon release, it quickly became one of the most in-demand shows on television....

Ricardo Chavira and Gabriel Chavarria are set to play lead characters in Netflix’s Selena: The Series. Picked up by the streaming service last December, with Christian Serratos in the title role, the show is slowly starting to take shape. Selena: The Series has been described as the late singer’s coming-of-age tale. Before she was shot and killed by the manager of her fan club in 1995, Selena was a wildly successful and versatile entertainer....

Based off of Jake Bernstein’s book, Secrecy World, Netflix’s recent release entitled The Laundromat, stars Meryl Streep as the recently widowed Ellen Martin after her husband (along with 20 others) die in a boat accident during what is supposed to be a dream vacation. As she tries to secure a financial settlement from the incident, she is exposed to a dark world of tax fraud, money laundering, and shell companies that exist to make the rich even richer and even less accountable....

Paramount’s Terminator: Dark Fate will feature a new Terminator ability in which the cyborg “splits,” director Tim Miller has confirmed. The Terminator franchise has been on a long and tumultuous journey since James Cameron’s original 1984 movie. After a sequel, 1991’s Judgement Day, that rewrote the book on action-based sci-fi, a string of disappointing sequels followed, each one raising fans’ hopes of a worthy follow-up and then dashing them upon release amid a flurry of negative fan reaction and disappointing box office....

For the introduction of the refreshed Nest thermostat, cofounder of the company and former iPhone engineer Matt Rogers sat with Kevin Rose for the new Foundation video series on TechCrunch. After speaking about some of the updates included in the upgraded Nest hardware, Rogers talks about his time at Apple in 2004 as an intern writing manufacturer diagnostic software for the iPod mini. Perhaps the most interesting portion of the interview starts around the 15:50 mark; it shows Rogers talking about his work as the first firmware engineer for the prototype, click-wheel iPhone that Apple never shipped....

In Netflix’s new horror film Eli, a boy with an autoimmune disorder (Charlie Shotwell) is taken to a remote treatment center in a last-ditch hope to cure his condition - but the ending reveals that there’s more to his illness than meets the eye. Directed by Ciarán Foy, Eli stars Lili Taylor as the enigmatic Dr. Horn, Max Martini and Kelly Reilly as Eli’s parents, Paul and Rose, and Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink as a local girl called Haley, who befriends Eli through the glass of the conservatory....

The iBus, a tool that we previously discussed, allows users to connect to the Apple Watch maintenance port for interfacing with iTunes on a Mac. We raised the possibility yesterday of the iPhone 6 including a redesigned USB to Lightning cable that allows the USB end of the cord to be inserted into a USB port in either direction. In other words, like the Lightning connector, the next Apple USB cable could be reversible. Leaks of the purported cables have been flowing quickly out of Asia-based areas surrounding the Apple supply chain, and now Sonny Dickson has shared a video of the cable in action....

Variety reports that this is set to become law in December. This can be achieved by commissioning European content, buying existing TV shows and movies – or by paying into national film funds, an approach currently taken in Germany. “We just need the final vote, but it’s a mere formality,” he told Variety at the Venice Film Festival. Companies will have 20 months to comply, and individual countries can set the quota as high as 40% if they wish, as well as having the option to set smaller quotas for content produced in their own country....
