From iFixit’s mid-2011 MacBook Air teardown Update: For those interested, iFixit is currently tearing down a new Mac mini. Nothing major has come out of this one as of yet. The teardown experts at iFixit and Storage Review have opened up their MacBook Airs and have begun to dissect. Everything so far seems fairly normal and Apple-like, but the most important thing that we are taking from these tear downs is that the SSD’s are not soldered to the motherboard....

We previously discovered the new standalone Music app to be included in the next major version of macOS, 10.15. In that post, we mentioned the new Music app would be made using Marzipan, that lets iOS apps run on the Mac. Recently, sources familiar with the development of the OS reached out, correcting that information. The new standalone Music app on macOS will actually be an AppKit application, based off of iTunes....

Pebble updated its website this morning to tease a new model of its popular smartwatch. The announcement is scheduled for 10 AM on Tuesday next week, but Pebble has not specified what exactly is launching. However, multiple sources tell us that a major update to both the Pebble’s hardware and software have been in the works and that these changes could be ready to debut next week. The new watch is said to (finally) gain a slightly wider, color, e-paper-like display that will be encased in an overall thinner design....

Next is an app that offers a new way to rediscover your music library through smart playlists, and its latest update will make it even easier to remember the songs you forgot over time. The app now has Throwback Thursday notifications, so you can be reminded every week about songs you like. With Next, users can find dozens of dynamic playlists that are generated based on the artists and genres you like....

The streaming service has been seriously amping up its original content, and by the end of 2018 Netflix Originals had overtaken acquired content for the first time. Streaming giant Netflix has hit the news with reports that its U.S. movie library has shrunk by 40 percent since 2014. This will come as a blow to the streaming service that has been at the top of its game when it comes to the streaming industry. It comes as no surprise that this would have been on the cards given the amount of new streaming services that have jumped on the bandwagon, with huge hitters such as Disney removing their content from Netflix in order to move it to their own streaming services....

Anthem is about to undergo some of its most drastic changes yet. A recent developer stream hosted by BioWare claimed that the next patch will host around 300 changes for the game, including one that will fix all instances of the PS4 hard crashing issue that has plagued the game’s console release. Anthem is one of the early disappointments of 2019, a fact that EA and BioWare have been scrambling to massage away with a multitude of updates....

NewerTechnology just began shipping its new miniStack for 2010 or later Mac minis. NewerTechnology’s website also showcases the miniStack MAX, which is listed as “coming soon.” It is an amped version of the miniStack that “puts the functionality of a high-capacity external drive” as an “an optical drive, integrated SD card reader, and USB-powered hub.” It features the familiar aluminum frame and Mac mini footprint for the tech’s iconic stackable look....

Neverwinter Nights holds an interesting place in gaming history. Not quite as fondly remembered as other licensed Dungeons & Dragons video games, Neverwinter Nights is a massive experience and, especially for players unfamiliar with either BioWare or D&D 3rd Edition, contains almost an overwhelming amount of content. The graphics haven’t aged well and the main story campaign is about as basic as role-playing games come, but a combination of bug fixes, server updates, and the inclusion of multiple premium modules make Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition a title worth checking out for anyone looking for an old-school Dungeons & Dragons adventure....

As someone who used to be heavily into jailbreaking, I’ve seen quite a few interesting and noteworthy tweaks come across my desk over the years. Newton, one of my favorite third-party email apps, has just launched a new feature called Recap. If you’ve never tried Newton, it reminds me of Mailbox. If you’ve forgotten, Mailbox was an app that Dropbox purchased and shut down a few years later. I get a lot of email during the day, and any help I can get on not missing an important email is something that will catch my eye....

Update (Sept 24th): Apple added a Knowledge Base on this The latest beta version of iOS 7 for mobile devices and Apple TV introduces a new method of pairing your iOS device’s Remote app with your Apple TV. Previously, the pairing procedure required the use of the regular infrared remote that comes with the Apple TV. Today’s beta allows the user to simply tap the phone on the Apple TV to connect using Bluetooth....

Meizu is about to launch their new flagship 16S, along with a bigger 16S Plus. According to previous rumours, mass production could have been started until now, and the phone is expected to hit the markets in the next month. Surprisingly, we have seen very few leaks of the phones until now. A new Meizu phone with model number “M971” has passed the 3C certification. According to the model numbers of previous Meizu flagships, this phone is expected to be the Meizu 16S....

Earlier today, a report from Bloomberg offered a bit more information on the iPhone 8’s software interface, saying that the device will adopt the new dock interface used by the iPad on iOS 11. Now, new renders and a video show just what that could look like… This morning’s report explained that the iPhone 8 would adopt redesigned multitasking and all-new gestures in order to accommodate its lack of Home button and bezel-less design....
