Here’s what’s new on Netflix this weekend. This weekend, Netflix is taking a break from Christmas content to bring a comedy special, a critically acclaimed biographical drama, and a highly anticipated fantasy TV series. Netflix started adding Christmas movies and TV shows in late November and had a lot more reserved for December, with at least one new holiday movie or TV show releasing each week, so it might be time for something different.

Last week saw the arrival of A Family Reunion Christmas, Jack Whitehall’s comedy special Christmas With My Father, and Michael Bay’s 6 Underground, offering a bit of everything for every taste. On the licensed content front, Netflix added the horror movie It Comes At Night and the drama A Family Man, and this week is getting a dose of musical fun with Burlesque, along with some drama with The Danish Girl, and a touch of horror with Jacob’s Ladder (the remake, not the original one).

As for original content, Netflix users will now get to enjoy a new comedy special, Fernando Meirelles’ latest drama film, and Henry Cavill as a monster hunter. Here are the best movies and TV shows coming to Netflix this weekend - December 20.

Ronny Chieng: Asian Comedian Destroys America!

The Daily Show’s correspondent and Crazy Rich Asians actor, Ronny Chieng, is bringing a stand-up special to Netflix this weekend – and he has a lot to say about the U.S., but with a big dose of humor. Titled Ronny Chieng: Asian Comedian Destroys America!, it offers a different look at life in the U.S., consumerism, the government, and what truly makes the country great.

The Two Popes

Netflix’s The Two Popes is a biographical drama directed by Fernando Meirelles (City of God) and based on Anthony McCarten’s play The Pope. It follows conservative Pope Benedict (Anthony Hopkins) and liberal future Pope Francis (Jonathan Pryce) who must find common ground in order to forge a new path for the Catholic Church. The Two Popes premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in August and had a limited release in the U.S. and the UK in November, and has been praised by critics for its humor and the performances of its lead actors.

The Witcher

Henry Cavill is leaving superhero life behind for a while and is joining the realm of monster hunters and fantasy creatures. The Witcher is based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski and follows Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a solitary monster hunter who struggles to find his place in a world where people are actually more wicked than beasts – all that while also attempting to protect Princess Ciri (Freya Allan) from supernatural threats. The Witcher has already been renewed for a second season, so you might want to add it to your list to watch on Netflix this weekend.
