Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is one of the streaming services’ most binge-worthy series in history. It’s snappy, fresh, and fun, with woke characters, plenty of gore and a spine built out of friendship and feminism. There’s romance, sure, but the series is focused more on the teenager herself than her obsession with a boyfriend, which is a nice change from the original source material.

What are we to do while we wait for the next chilling season to arrive? To help us avoid thinking about the fate of Sabrina, Madam Satan and the gang, a hearty dose of horror movies playing on Netflix right now is just what the doctor ordered.

The Silence

If you like a bit of post-apocalyptic fun with your scares, The Silence is the next movie for you. It’s a Netflix original movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Think A Quiet Place meets American Horror Story: there’s a cult, there are frightening monsters who attack you by sound and there’s a young family in crisis, trying to stay alive while the world around them is collapsing.

Both Kiernan Shipka (Sabrina) and Miranda Otto (Aunt Zelda) of Sabrina star in this film, so if you couldn’t get enough of them in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, this is definitely the next film you ought to watch.

Sabrina

How about a horror film that still features a creepy character named Sabrina? In this case, Sabrina isn’t a teenager but a demonic doll that’s been hailed as a “Conjuring knock-off film.” This Annabelle-like doll has enormous anime eyes and is the third in the Netflix The Doll series of films. You don’t have to watch the others to understand what’s happening in this movie; it’s stand-alone material and Netflix isn’t even marketing it as a sequel.

Need more demons, possession, and horror after the teenage witch goes on hiatus until next season? This might help tide you over.

Gremlins

While still classified as a horror movie, 1984’s Gremlins is a classic fantastic beast movie long before Harry Potter was around. If you miss the critter companions, monsters, and werewolves of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and you love the nostalgic vibes you get from the show’s ambiguous time period, you’ve got to give this throwback a shot, and if you’ve already seen the movie, it’s really one you can’t get tired of seeing.

Magical creatures that multiply when you get them wet and transform into evil monsters who cause terror if you feed them after midnight? Sabrina practically belongs in this world, too.

The Witch

Although The Witch has a complicated history between its critics and fans, it’s definitely a scary movie filled with creeping dread, evil witch shenanigans–some that are even more brutal than those in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina–and even an appearance made by none other than Black Philip himself, the same goat-like version of Satan we see in Sabrina. In fact, this version is even more chilling.

From a young blond girl accused of witchcraft to many of the same rituals and lore found in the Sabrina series, The Witch has everything for those who really enjoyed the historical aspects of the show.

The Babysitter

Do you need more beautiful young people who also happen to be members of a Satanic cult? Maybe The Babysitter is just what you need. This 2017 dark horror comedy has decent reviews at Rotten Tomatoes, with a 70% approval rating, and it features a kid who stays up after his bedtime only to discover his babysitter’s horrifying secret.

Like Sabrina, this movie also deals with bullying, human sacrifice, and violence, but it works more as a slasher comedy than the tension-building drama that Sabrina had woven into its plot. Nevertheless, it still has many of the same elements and is sure to please many lovers of the genre.

Death Note

Did you love it when Sabrina carried out revenge plots on everyone from her principal to the Weird Sisters? In that case, Death Note is the next movie you should watch. The film is about a teenager who is suddenly granted the power to take out his enemies when a demon’s notebook falls into his hands.

All the teen has to do is write the person’s name in his book to have them gone for good, but it obviously comes with consequences that he didn’t foresee before enacting his revenge. Like Sabrina, this teen horror is based on written material–in this case, Japanese manga.

Beautiful Creatures

While Beautiful Creatures doesn’t have the same gory horror that Sabrina does, the book-inspired film has so much witchy goodness that it’s a must-see. It doesn’t follow the source material by the letter, but it deals with dark cousins, witch initiations, choosing the path of the dark or the light, revenge on bullies and of course, lots of magic.

There’s more of a romantic focus in Beautiful Creatures, but it’s not a saccharine story, and there are plenty of jump scare moments and creepy scenes. As a bonus, if you’re with an actual teen, they could watch this PG-13 movie with you.

Scream

Is there a ’90s teen horror movie more iconic than Scream? This edgy thriller is filled with gore, horror and biting humor, and it was the movie millennials made each other watch during sleepovers. Who could ever see Drew Barrymore the same way after that first scene?

There aren’t any witches in Scream, but there is plenty of teen debauchery, murder, and mayhem, not to mention star power. From Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich to Rose McGowan and Courtney Cox, is there anyone from this decade who wasn’t in this movie? There’s even that same element about who is trustworthy and who isn’t that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has. Turn the lights off and enjoy this one in your favorite ’90s grunge flannel and jeans.

The Witch Files

A group of teen girls who want to be witches? A fresh, young coven who uses their abilities to help remedy their marginalized status to achieve their dreams? It’s the perfect follow-up for anyone who can’t get enough of teenage witches. Netflix’s The Witch Files is a horror that features a similar theme that we’ve had to learn over and over again: all magic comes with a price. Abusing those supernatural powers will result in even worse karma.

This one is also TV-14, so teens who aren’t quite ready for a movie like The Craft could still watch this one.

Zombieland

It’s always a good idea to watch Zombieland, even if you’ve already seen it 100 times. This movie is a fan favorite with good reason: it’s gory, hilarious and filled with surprises. There’s plenty of action, just a twist of romance, and all the horror you could want in a scary teen movie. Plus, there are even zombie clowns. What more could you ask for?

Plus, the sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap will be out in just a few months in time for Halloween, so it’s a good idea to refresh your memory regarding Wichita, Tallahassee, Columbus, and Little Rock.
