Netflix will produce a Big Mouth spinoff entitled Human Resources, as revealed at New York Comic-Con. The upcoming series aligns with the streaming service’s existing partnership with Brutus Pink - a production company formed by Kelly Galuska and Big Mouth’s co-creators: Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett.

Big Mouth follows a group of New York teenagers who grapple with their sexual feelings and insecurities. The surrealistic animated series is based on the childhood experiences of the aforementioned Kroll and Goldberg, with the former voicing one of the primary leads, Nick Birch. Popular stand-up comedian John Mulaney (Saturday Night Live) voices Nick’s best friend, Andrew Glouberman. The main voice cast is rounded out by Jessi Klein, Jenny Slate, Jason Mantzoukas, Maya Rudolph, Fred Armisen, and Jordan Peele. Big Mouth season 1 originally premiered in September 2017 on Netflix, and was followed by a second season in October 2018. Big Mouth season 3 premiered on October 3, 2019. The series features several “hormone monsters” who educate and frighten the young human characters.

Per Variety, Netflix will produce a future Big Mouth spinoff, currently known as Human Resources. The series is set to premiere after Big Mouth season 5, meaning that it’s still at least two years away from an official release. In July 2019, Netflix officially renewed Big Mouth for three more seasons beyond Big Mouth season 3, due to its critical acclaim and popularity amongst general subscribers. On Twitter, Big Mouth’s co-producer and co-star, Kroll, confirmed the news by posting an 18-second Human Resources promo. It features one of the series’ monsters, who stands before a sign that reads “Human Resources,” along with the subheading “We Manage People.” Check out the Human Resources clip below.

At New York Comic-Con, Kroll spoke about Human Resources during the Big Mouth panel. As for the series details, he stated that “its about the monsters and the creatures and everything that manages people.” Prior to Big Mouth, Kroll was best known for co-starring in the fantasy football-themed comedy series The League, and also for voice acting roles in Sausage Party, Sing, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, and The Secret Life of Pets 2. Kroll voices Uncle Fester in the 2019 animated film The Addams Family, a comedy horror based on Charles Addams’ famous comic series of the same name.

Based on the description for Human Resources, the series will build upon surrealistic concepts featured in Big Mouth and show they transfer over to the work place. Given that more and more businesses are prioritizing the mental health of employees over long hours, Human Resources will undoubtedly be relevant, and will surely include are the provocative comedy that makes Big Mouth so entertaining and progressive.
