Locke & Key season 2 will soon be releasing on Netflix, and here’s everything to know about the release date, cast news, and story details. After bouncing around networks, streaming platforms, and movie studios for the better part of a decade, Locke & Key found its home with Netflix. Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s comic book series of the same name tells the story of the Locke children–Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode.

After their father’s murder, the children are uprooted from their home by their mother to their ancestral residence in Massachusetts, known as Keyhouse. The kids discover a series of mysterious keys around their house, which subsequently unlock magic and secrets from their late father’s past. Meanwhile, there’s a demon on their tail who will stop at nothing to gain all the keys.

The Locke & Key season 1 finale saw the Locke family and their friends take their final stand against Dodge. Earlier, it was revealed the demon was actually the ghostly echo of Lucas, Rendell’s deceased high school friend brought back to life with a key by Ellie. She then worked with the Locke kids to banish Lucas once and for all. The Lockes thought they succeeded, but it was revealed that they might not be so safe after all. Despite being left with a cliffhanger, there was comfort knowing the story would continue to unfold after Netflix renewed the series a month after it debuted. Here’s what to expect from Locke & Key season 2.

Locke & Key was a clear winner in the eyes of the streaming giant, making the renewal almost inevitable. Filming for season 2 commenced in late September 2020, lasting until mid-April 2021. As of now, the expectation is for Locke & Key season 2 to hit Netflix by the end of the year. Based on post-production, it’s likely to arrive in the late fall or possibly December. Locke & Key Season 2 Cast

Based on season 1’s story, most of the main cast is expected to return for Locke & Key’s second installment. Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, and Jackson Robert Scott will be returning as Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode, respectively. Darby Stanchfield will also be back as the Locke matriarch, Nina. Laysla De Oliveira’s villainous Dodge will undoubtedly be involved, despite taking the form of Ellie (Sherri Saum). The kids’ uncle, Duncan Locke, is set to have a more prominent role, considering Aaron Ashmore has been promoted to series regular, as has Hallea Jones in the role of Eden. As for new cast members, Brendan Hines has been added for season 2.

Locke & Key Season 2 Story Details

The final moments of Locke & Key’s season 1 finale revealed Lucas to have taken the form of Kinsey’s boyfriend, Gabe. Gabe then met up with Eden, who was hit with the same other-worldly element that previously triggered Lucas’ turn from human to demon. So, needless to say, these two will be up to no good in season two of Locke & Key. There’s also Ellie, who was thrown through the Omega Door while Dodge took her identity. The Locke kids will surely have their work cut out for them, with various villains in their midst. Seeing as the original source material is a series of comic books, Locke & Key has plenty of stories to select from for a second season that will undoubtedly include more magic, keys, and family drama.
