Netflix’s new supernatural drama October Faction stars J.C. Mackenzie and Tamara Taylor as Fred and Deloris Allen, two monster-hunters who move back to their home town with their teenage twins, Geoff (Gabriel Darku) and Viv (Aurora Burghart). Based on the comics by Steve Niles and Damien Worm, October Faction features a rich cast of characters - some human, some not-so-human.
When the series begins, Geoff and Viv believe that their parents are boring insurance sales reps. However, Fred and Deloris are actually members of the Presidio Foundation, a covert syndicate dedicated to studying and hunting supernatural creatures that prey on humans. After moving back to the upstate New York town of Barington-on-Hudson, where Fred and Deloris grew up, buried family secrets resurface and the twins find themselves embroiled in their parents’ world of magic and monsters.
As the Allens settle into their new home, they get to know the locals of Barington-on-Hudson - and you can too. Here’s our guide to the cast and characters of October Faction.
J.C. Mackenzie as Fred Allen
Raised to be a monster hunter from a young age, Fred ultimately joined the Presidio Foundation due to his guilt over the death of his brother, Seth. He rose to become one of Presidio’s top slayers, but feels torn between his duties to his family legacy and his responsibility to the family he has now. Mackenzie is best known for his role as Reagen “Normal” Ronald in Dark Angel, and recently appeared in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman.
Tamara Taylor as Deloris Allen
Like Fred, Deloris grew up in Barington-on-Hudson, but as the only black girl in her class, her small town experience was very different. She was also motivated to join Presidio after the death of a loved one, her father, and is one of the organization’s most skilled agents. The years of fighting have taken their toll on Deloris, but she remains determined to protect humanity from the supernatural. Taylor is best known for her role as Camille Saroyan in Bones, and also appeared in the Netflix series Altered Carbon.
Aurora Burghart as Viv Allen
One of Deloris and Fred’s 17 year-old fraternal twins, Viv has a brilliant mind but finds herself ostracized from her fellow classmates after moving to Barington-on-Hudson. She is able to find someone to connect with: a fellow outcast called Cathy. However, high school drama could put their budding friendship to the test. Burghart previously guest-starred in the Netflix series Sex Education.
Gabriel Darku as Geoff Allen
Geoff is far more outgoing and confident than his sister, and immediately proves popular with the other students at his new high school, much to the chagrin of popular jock Phillip Mishra. Proudly out as gay, Geoff places high value in truthfulness - which means he’s none too happy when he finds out his parents have been lying to him. Darku appeared in the anthology horror series Slasher, and played a young Shadow Moon in American Gods.
