Thanks to a brand new feature, Netflix users can now see the streaming service’s most popular shows and movies in a new daily Top 10 row. As the streaming wars continue to heat up, many companies need to find new and improved ways to stand out from the crowd. Following the incredibly well-received release of Disney+ last year, a number of companies are still finding new ways to make their way into the world of streaming. The way in which film and television are consumed has evolved in a monumental way, and plenty of companies want in on the action.

This year will see three more companies jumping into the streaming wars. NBC will be making its grand streaming debut this year with Peacock, a service that will be accessible to anyone with or without a subscription. On top of that, WarnerMedia has the release of HBO Max coming up this Spring along with the release of Quibi, a service that will provide quick bits of content only through mobile devices. It’s clear that the streaming world has become quite crowded over the years, so it makes sense why familiar favorites are working especially hard to find new ways to stand out.

Per Netflix, the company has revealed that a new feature on the service will have a row dedicated specifically to the top 10 most popular movies and shows. This new row “will enable [subscribers] to see what is most popular on Netflix” and will be “updated every day” with the position of the row varying “depending on how relevant the shows and films are to [subscribers]". In addition to this, subscribers will also be able to “see the top 10 most popular series and the top 10 films” when clicking on their respective tabs. The shows and movies on these lists will also have a “special “Top 10” badge, wherever they appear on Netflix.” The company is hopeful that these top 10 lists will create more shared moments with family and friends, while also helping subscribers to “find something to watch more quickly and easily.”

Hopefully, this new feature will help keep Netflix afloat as more streaming services start to flood in. It was predicted last year in a study by Needham & Company’s Laura Martin that the company could lose up to 4 million subscribers this year due to the cost of the service in comparison to its competitors. But, thankfully, the service is still the home for a number of beloved series with massive fan bases that will surely stick around, namely Stranger Things and, most recently, The Witcher. The latter even went on to become more popular than The Mandalorian, which was a massive success for their competitor Disney+.

Although the new feature is a small addition, it’ll hopefully help subscribers find new and interesting things to watch. Considering the daily Top 10 is curated from what a subscriber has watched previously, it’ll help find similar shows and films that may have been buried within Netflix’s ever-growing library. Ultimately, it certainly helps narrow down options rather than endlessly combing through shows and movies to find the right fit.
