The new, R-rated Harley Quinn series is coming to DC Universe at the end of November, and Warner Bros. Animation just dropped a brand new trailer (viewer discretion is very much advised). The Harley Quinn show features an impressive cast of voice actors. Kaley Cuoco of The Big Bang Theory will voice Quinn, Lake Bell will voice Poison Ivy, and Alan Tudyk (Firefly) will voice both The Joker and Clayface.

Earlier trailers promised an insane series, one unlike any animated DC series that fans had seen before. Quinn actually originated as a cartoon creation in Batman: The Animated Series before being written into her own comic book adventures. Thanks to these original stories, the character’s legion of adoring fans, and a very memorable performance by Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn is having a bit of a moment right now. In addition to the upcoming Harley Quinn animated TV show, Robbie will once again play the character in Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), due out in theaters in 2020.

Now, Harley Quinn fans can catch their best look yet at the upcoming DC Universe series thanks to a brand new trailer. The trailer shows Harley Quinn, dressed in her classic Batman: The Animated Series harlequin outfit, coming to the grim realization that “Joker never loved me. He only loves Batman.” That somber moment is immediately stepped on by a potty-mouthed talking plant, which tells Quinn “Boo f*cking hoo.” Before long, Quinn has upgraded to the ombre-pigtails and halter-top costume made famous by Robbie’s take on the character. The trailer promises a very different kind of DC animated series, one with plenty of blood, four-letter words, and sexually transmitted diseases.

According to the official synopsis from DC Universe:

Fans ready to catch up on the adventures of Harley Quinn don’t have long to wait. The DC Universe platform may have serious problems, but the animated series will debut on Friday, November 29. With a talented voice cast and mature subject matter, Harley Quinn could actually prove to be a major draw for the struggling streaming platform, which now has to contend with Disney+ (which launched the same day this latest trailer was released).

Harley Quinn has finally broken things off once and for all with the Joker and attempts to make it on her own as the criminal Queenpin of Gotham City in this half-hour adult animated action-comedy series. The series features Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and a whole cast of heroes and villains, old and new, from the DC Universe.

In so many ways, Quinn is the perfect character for the modern era. The trailer portrays Quinn as the DC Universe’s new face of female empowerment, with Quinn ditching her abusive ex for a supervillain crew of her own. This new Quinn is a leader as much as a villain. Quinn debuted in the early 1990s on a Batman cartoon, but that show’s audience is all grown up. The new Harley Quinn trailer proves that this fan-favorite is growing up with them.
