More fuel has been added to the fire for the “Snyder Cut” of Justice League thanks to a new image of Batman courtesy of Zack Snyder himself. The reshoots Justice League was subject to took the film far off course from Snyder’s intended vision, giving way to the ongoing grassroots push for the release of Snyder’s original version of the movie. Although the campaign has gone on since the film’s theatrical release, the Snyder Cut has seen growth in mainstream prominence and demand for its release.

To a large extent, that can be attributed to the sheer number of people directly connected to Justice League who have come forward to publicly support its release, with the charge being led by Jason Momoa (who has also gone on record to confirm he has seen it.) From there, more and more cast and crew members would jump into the conversation, with Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck joining the chorus on the movie’s two-year anniversary. In the midst of it all, Snyder has also kept the fire burning with a steady stream of still images and storyboards from his cut of the film.

Snyder’s latest image shows Batman in what appears to be S.T.A.R. Labs, captioned with the words “Who does it serve”. In the image in question, Batman is emerging from a mist of some kind, while a figure that appears to Aquaman can also be seen. However, something that makes Snyder’s latest image particularly notable is how well it fits in with a number of prior images Snyder has released.

Specifically, Snyder’s social media teases this year have included the revelation of Silas Stone having been killed by one of the Mother Boxes in his cut of the movie. Snyder would also release an image of what can be presumed to precede Silas’ death with Cyborg coming to his father’s defense against an approaching Steppenwolf. Additionally, November would also see Snyder release another collection of images, with the still of Wonder Woman also set in S.T.A.R. Labs.

Collectively, these seem to point to a battle between the League and Steppenwolf in S.T.A.R. Labs, while also pointing to the villain’s acquisition of the final Mother Box playing out different than in the theatrical cut. What’s more, there may already be a tease made publicly available to how the deleted sequence plays out, in the form of a fight reel released to social media by Justice League stunt coordinator Freddy Bouciegues. The reel includes snippets of stunt performers standing in for Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Cyborg fighting against a stand-in for Steppenwolf, with each character recognizable by their weapons and attire.

Where the image of Batman fits into all of this remains an open question, but taken in totality with the aforementioned images released by Snyder, they point to the unseen S.T.A.R. Labs sequence being fairly significant in his cut. At present, the still images released by Snyder are the closest thing available to seeing his version of the film, which Warner Bros. has not announced any plans to release. However, the hype for it isn’t slowing down in the slightest, as Snyder’s newly released shirt relating to the movie (that also redubs it “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”) demonstrates. With no end in sight for the push for the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, or of his social media teases for it, the topic is sure to remain a hot button issue heading into 2020.
