The AR game company Niantic just released an exciting surprise for fans of Pokémon GO: it added to the game Terrakion, a new legendary Pokémon that will only be available for a limited time. Last October, the mobile game surpassed $3 billion in lifetime revenue, while last summer it reached the goal of 1 billion downloads. Since the launch of Pokémon GO in 2016 on the 20th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, the success of mobile game has never stopped.

One of the reasons for the incredible popularity of the AR game is Niantic’s dedication to constantly provide updates, news and events to keep players interested. For example, earlier this year the developer added to Pokémon GO the monsters from the franchise’s fifth generation, like Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig, Drillibur and Lillipup. Additionally, last summer the evil Team Rocket from the franchise’s earlier games made its debut in Pokémon GO. This update is even more interesting because, by defeating Team Rocket, the player receives a Shadow Pokémon that can be “purified” with Stardust to return to its normal state.

As GameSpot reports, the latest event of the popular mobile game involves Terrakion, a legendary Pokémon from the Swords of Justice trio featured in the fifth generation of the franchise. Terrakion began to appear during five-star Raids on November 26 and it will be available until December 17. It has two types, Fighting and Rock, so it’s vulnerable to attacks from Fairy, Steel, Psychic, Grass Ground and Water Pokémon.

Other than the release of this new legendary Pokémon for a limited time, Niantic has in store two other interesting events for the players of its most popular game. The Friend Fest will run until December 2 and will see family-themed Pokémon like Nidoran appear more often, so players will have extra opportunities to catch them. During this event, making Pokémon trades will be easier since it will require half the normal amount of Stardust, and it will also be possible to make two special trades for each day of the event. Additionally, the December Community Day will take place on December 14 and 15. During those two days, the players will have a chance to catch special Pokémon that were featured in the previous editions of the event, like Totodile, Treecko, Trapinch, Turtwig, Bagon and Chimchar.

These two events, along with Terrakion’s release, will certainly encourage the players to walk through the green areas of their cities to look for Pokémon during the next few weeks, despite the cold of December.
