There’s no denying that Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is hugely popular; becoming the first movie franchise where more than one of its movies grossed over $1 billion at the global box office. While quality of the acting talent has been highly praised throughout the franchise’s history, the storylines have become progressively weaker over its four movie span. Now Disney are hoping to reignite the franchise wiht a fifth installment; Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will once again see Johnny Depp reprising their roles as Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa, respectively. Orlando Bloom returns to the franchise after his absence from the fourth film, On Stranger Tides. He will reprise his role as Will Turner, but with a difference; this time around, Will is the Captain of the Flying Dutchman, having assumed the position of Davy Jones. New castmembers include Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, Brenton Thwaites as Will Turner Jr., and Kaya Scodelario as  Carina Smyth.

Following on from rumors that we would soon see a full trailer for Dead Men Tell No Tales, Disney has now released a new poster for the movie via their Twitter account, along with confirmation that the trailer will arrive tomorrow, March 2nd. Take a look at the one-sheet, below.

Dead Men Tell No Tales follows the infamous Jack Sparrow as he takes to the high seas once more to defeat his old nemesis, Salazar, who is now in charge of a crew of ghost pirates. Salazar and his crew have escaped from the Devil’s Triangle, and Jack must seek out Poseidon’s Trident in order that he can control the seas and defeat Salazar once and for all.

While it might seem a little strange that across four previous movies we have never heard mention of Salazar, this is Disney, and this is Pirates of the Caribbean, so we can kind of overlook a lot of minor sins. All things point towards Dead Men Tell No Tales returning to its grass roots and delivering a ghostly, pirate themed, swashbuckling adventure. Recent concept art has included a look at undead sharks; fascinating, if slightly gruesome, but really altogether quite exciting.

Pirates is a franchise that it feels good to be coming back to; Depp and Rush have always played their characters to perfection and have a great onscreen rapport. Bloom’s new take on his character should be interesting, too. No doubt there will be a lot more to unpack tomorrow, when the full trailer arrives.
