On what is perhaps the most fitting day for the news, Netflix announces a release date for their upcoming pot comedy series Disjointed. The series stars veteran actress Kathy Bates (American Horror Story) as the owner of a family-run marijuana dispensary, and will depict the highs and half-baked lows of following the American Dream. Her character, Ruth, is a lifelong advocate for marijuana legalization, and will be joined by her twenty-something entrepreneurial son played by Aaron Moten, a troubled security guard played by Tone Bell, and a trio of budtenders (Dougie Baldwin, Elizabeth Ho and Elizabeth Alderfer)....

Update: The Eve Motion is also available now for $49. It’s a Bluetooth HomeKit motion sensor that can work in combination with the Eve Light Switch to create motion-controlled lighting. It will integrate with the Apple Home app and does not require a bridge or additional accessories, so the motion sensor can slot into to an existing smart home setup. Elgato is expanding its range of Bluetooth HomeKit devices with a new standalone smart light switch, available from today for $49....

Paramount and Hasbro are developing a new G.I. Joe live-action movie spinoff. The G.I. Joe multimedia brand is one of Hasbro’s most popular and longest-running IPs, having already been adapted for everything from comic books to multiple animated TV series, and even a pair of live-action movies (released in 2009 and 2013). And while neither of the feature films were well-received critically, they earned enough at the global box office ($678 million combined) to keep Paramount and Hasbro coming back for more....

Apple’s new MacBook Air line has been expected for weeks now, with evidence supporting a refresh coming by way of constraints at global retailers and most recently at major Apple reseller BestBuy.com. Although this refresh has been expected, a well-sourced and specific launch time frame is yet to emerge. Now, we’ve been told that Apple is gearing up to launch their upgraded line of ultra thin notebooks in mid-July. New York Uber drivers are being locked out of the app at times of low demand, in order to comply with new regulations in the city… Reuters reports that New York City’s Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) introduced the new rules for two reasons. First, to reduce congestion. Second, to ensure minimum pay requirements are met for New York Uber and Lyft drivers. The rules are aimed at reducing congestion in Manhattan, where ride-share vehicles make up close to a third of peak time traffic, according to the TLC....

It seems the refreshed MacBook Air that came to light yesterday is bound to become another smash hit for Apple. According to trade publication DigiTimes, shipments of the latest MacBook Air from the supply chain already topped half a million units in June, the volume expected “to remain strong throughout July and August”. The Wall Street Journal, which is owned by News Corp, followed up on the filing with reporting that the attack was discovered on January 20. News Corp sent a letter about the attack to employees at the newspaper and the Dow Jones, the New York Post, the company’s UK news outlet and the News Corp headquarters. Mandiant vice president David Wong attributed the attack to actors allegedly based within China but did not provide any evidence for that assessment....

Now that the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR are officially available to order, Apple has confirmed that the new color variant of the Magic Keyboard, Mouse, and Trackpad will only come with the new pro machine for now. New images shared on Twitter by @DongleBookPro this weekend show the iPhone 5s in an unreleased Black and Slate color variant. This design was likely used in an effort to conceal the iPhone 5s while it was being tested, making it look more similar to the iPhone 5. For those unfamiliar, the iPhone 5 was available in two colors: ‘White and Silver’ and ‘Black and Slate.’ With the following year’s introduction of the iPhone 5s, Apple introduced three new color variants: silver, gold, and space gray....

NBC has followed in ABC’s footsteps and released an update for its iOS app that introduces live streaming of the network’s content directly to an iPhone or iPad. Similarly to ABC’s offering, the feature is only available in a few select cable markets that this time and requires a subscription to a cable or satellite partner. Netflix has officially signed a deal with Dark Horse Entertainment - the film and television production branch of publisher Dark Horse Comics. The two companies previously collaborated on action-comedy superhero series The Umbrella Academy, based on the Dark Horse published comic book of the same name by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way. The first season of the popular show was a massive hit with viewers, and recently ranked as the most in-demand superhero TV show - ahead of the likes of Doom Patrol and The Flash....
