NeuralCam is an iPhone app that aims to bring to the iPhone the kind of ultra-low-light capabilities we’ve seen in some recent Android smartphones. Modern iPhones have gotten better and better at handling low-light photos. I put that to the test soon after I got my iPhone X, and wrote then about how impressed I was when testing it on some after-sunset shots… All I’ve done in terms of editing is a crop and a bit of saturation boost [and the result, below] is truly stunning quality....

According to a report from CNBC, NBC will be launching a video streaming service of its own. The company will be launching a free, ad-supported streaming service that anyone who subscribes to traditional cable can gain access to. The service will launch in the first quarter of 2020. While they haven’t locked in on a price, those who aren’t subscribed to traditional cable television will pay somewhere around $12 per month for the service....

The FCC has today announced that net neutrality protections will officially end on June 11, with ISPs able to prioritize or block Internet traffic as they wish from that date … ISPs will also be able to charge more for access to certain service, such as streaming video. However, what seemed to be a long-shot attempt to reverse the legislation – and retain net neutrality – now appears to have a fighting chance of succeeding....

Teardowns of the new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models reveal lots of shiny technology, but with the machines following the construction lead of the MacBook Air, it’s no surprise to see IFixIt giving both models low scores for repairability. The extreme difficulty in removing both battery and trackpad mean both models get even worse scores than the Air, at just 1 out of 10. As with the Air, RAM is soldered directly to the logic board, so if you think you may need more in the future, take a deep breath and pay Apple’s price for the 16GB upgrade as there is no way to upgrade it later....

A memo written in 2016 has just come to light in which a Facebook VP argues that ‘questionable’ and deceptive tactics to grow the platform are justified – even if they cost someone their life.
