Netflix’s upcoming TV adaptation of The Witcher almost starred Ciri, instead of Geralt. The eight-episode series will revolve around Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter, who will be portrayed by Henry Cavill (Man of Steel). Joining him will be Princess Ciri, portrayed by Freya Allan (Bluebird). It was recently revealed that in an alternate universe, these roles may have been reversed, with Ciri playing the central character in the new show....

Multiple sources are indicating that Apple will launch a new variant of the iPod touch next week. iGen.fr is saying that the same source who leaked information about the early 2013 16 GB 5th generation iPod touch is now saying yet another model will launch in the near future. However, their report does not go into specifics about particular changes. MacRumors believes that the new device will be a modified version of the current 16 GB iPod touch at a lower price point....

It’s not surprising that Nokia would choose to focus on the Lumia 925’s camera, as it made a big deal of the device’s 8.7 megapixel camera, dual LED flash, Carl Zeiss lens, and enhanced software camera features when it was unveiled....

After sharing its latest study on how mobile networks compare around the globe earlier this week, Opensignal is out today with a US-specific report. The new data gives a look at 4G download and upload speeds, latency, and more for each state as well as a look at the top 50 US cities. In Opensignal’s global report, the US came in 30th out of 87 countries for 4G download speeds with an average of 21....

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has always delved deep into the weird and wonderful parts of the world’s history when it comes to picking compelling locations for its flagship games. N0w, it looks like a leak in Ubisoft’s The Division 2 is hinting at the next big direction for the franchise being Assassin’s Creed vikings. There were rumors after Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and its reception that the title was actually going to be part of a larger trilogy that would focus on Ancient Greco-Roman settings and characters going forward....

According to The Intercept, Ring’s engineers and executives have “highly privileged access” to live camera feeds from customers’ devices. This includes both doorbells facing the outside world, as well as cameras inside a person’s home. A team tasked with annotating video to aid in object recognition captured “people kissing, firing guns, and stealing.” [Update: According to Ring, annotation is only conducted on “publicly shared Ring videos.”] U.S. employees specifically had access to a video portal intended for technical support that reportedly allowed “unfiltered, round-the-clock live feeds from some customer cameras....

Netflix appears to be planning its most expensive streaming tier yet. Currently, the company offers three different tiers, starting at $7.99 per month and maxing out at $13.99. That could soon change, however… According to Italian blog Tutto Android, Netflix is plotting the rollout of a new “Ultra” tier that would be priced at €16.99, which comes out to around $20 per month. Promotional material for this new streaming package indicates that it would essentially be the same as the current “Premium” tier....

Netflix’s Bonding follows a New York City student/dominatrix and her gay best friend/assistant. The show’s premise revolves around BDSM subculture, but offers little insight about the community itself. Still, Bonding has long-term potential if series creator Rightor Doyle decides to fully commit to the bit. In Bonding, Zoe Levin stars as Tiff Chester, a graduate student who works in the BDSM subculture. She’s a guarded and seemingly bright woman, but struggles to maintain meaningful relationships....

While retail head Angela Ahrendts last year confirmed an earlier report that the company would be opening its first Apple Store in Singapore, she didn’t reveal the location. The address had, though, been reported as 170 Orchard Road in an email from a fitness company advising that its branch there would be closing to make way for a new Apple Store. Alongside the Apple Watch Series 6 last fall, Apple introduced a Solo Loop style band available in braided polyester yarn and silicone rubber materials. A new concept this week imagines how Apple could expand its selection of Braided Solo Loops with multi-color designs. Currently, Apple’s Braided Solo Loop is available in five different colors, but none of the designs are multi-colored like this concept....
