Netflix’s app for iOS has lost a key functionality for users of the Apple ecosystem. According to an updated support document on the company’s website, the Netflix for iOS app no longer supports AirPlay playback. Netflix doesn’t give a specific reason as to why AirPlay support has been removed from its iOS app. The support page simply attributes the change to “technical limitations.” The AirPlay icon has been completely removed from the Netflix app....

Right on schedule, drone videographer Duncan Sinfield has posted his mid-month flyover of Apple Park. While the overall structure of the new campus has been completed for awhile now, Apple continues to apply finishing touches such as landscaping. Specifically this month, Sinfield highlights the work within the spaceship ring. Apple continues to planet trees and other greenery. When completed, the campus will be surrounded by around 9,000 trees and Apple’s efforts to find only the best tress have been detailed in the past....

Apple SoHo in New York City recently unveiled an all-new Forum and Video Wall with a striking design that respects the heritage of the original flagship store. The space breathes new life into the store’s former Theater area and will someday host artists and Creative Pros during Today at Apple sessions. Climb the signature glass stairs at Apple SoHo and you’ll find the bright new Forum. Work to totally reimagine the space began in September and wrapped up in time for the busy annual Apple Shopping Event....

As we get closer to the expected launch, sometime in early September, the leaks for the iPhone 7 just keep coming. Following a brief clip last week, a poster on Weibo has uploaded an extended video of a purported iPhone 7 unit — we’ve embedded it after the jump. The video shows an iPhone 7 casing (4.7 inch model) that corroborates previous rumors: new larger camera, redesigned antenna lines, missing headphone jack in lieu of an additional speaker grille....

But given the multitude of car chases and chaotic fight sequences, many of the cinematic citations might’ve been missed by casual Netflix streamers. 6 Underground’s premise aligns with traditional superhero origin story concepts. Netflix’s The I-Land trailer reveals a tropical paradise loaded with danger. Confining characters to an isolated or contained environment is hardly a new angle for any TV series or film, though to date, the concept has repeatedly found a substantial degree of success with audiences. Most recently, Netflix has managed to utilize the contained thriller to impressive effect with their original series The Society, which focuses on a group of teenagers left to their own devices after they discover that they are the only inhabitants of their small town....

The Witcher is so great because it brings us so many elements, something for everyone to enjoy — fantasy, horror, humor… even romance. The main couple of the show, Geralt and Yennefer, undertake a dark and twisted journey throughout the season, with many moments between them that make us swoon and some of the minor characters have beautiful relationships too. Yeah, we know, you’ve heard it all before. It sometimes feels like some revolutionary new battery technology gets promoted every other month, and the one thing they have in common is that they never seem to materialize in real-life products. But new battery tech from a MIT spinoff may actually prove to be the exception, with the company aiming to enter production next year. The difference with this tech? Netflix has launched its free app for iPhone and iPod touch, allowing members (on plans starting from $8.99/month) to instantly watch TV episodes and movies streamed to their devices. Notice on the screen shot above it is working beautifully over AT&T’s 3G without any pixel-izing. That might be good for those grandfathered into real unlimited plans. Netflix cancels the zombie apocalypse series Daybreak after just one season. Daybreak is only the latest show to arrive at a quick and unexpected conclusion at the streaming service, with other originals meeting the same fate. Netflix has recently pulled the plug on Chambers, No Good Nick, and Tuca & Bertie. While Daybreak did not share the same level of acclaim that Tuca & Bertie received during its short run, it does serve as a reminder that fans are often left with only a partial rationale for why Netflix cancels its programs....

WARNING: Spoilers for Messiah. The Netflix series Messiah includes a major character twist that was originally teased, or spoiled, in the trailer. Still, Messiah season 1 left many viewers wondering about the deeper meaning of the misdirection, and how it will affect future episodes. Anya Taylor-Joy says The New Mutants’ final cut is done and director Josh Boone is happy with how the X-Men movie spinoff turned out. After more than two years of delays (though it feels even longer), Fox’s final X-Men film will finally open in theaters this spring. New photos coming out today claim to show the flex cable and home button for the upcoming iPhone 5S. Although labeled as an iPhone 5C flex cable, this image points to an iPhone 5S part, not 5C. Of note here is the drastically different design when compared to both the iPhone 5 home button assembly and earlier iPhone 5S leaks, pointing to support for the much rumored fingerprint sensor… We previously reported that versions of iOS included references to a “biometric kit,” seemingly confirming a fingerprint sensor, and several reports have claimed similar....

UPDATE [Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 2:06pm ET]: It appears the app had originally slipped past Apple’s censors after all as the company just yanked the program out of the App Store. A new iOS application called Quickpick hit the App Store (no jailbreak!), and it fills a void that many feel Apple left in their implementation of the iOS 5 Notification Center. For those unfamiliar, Notification Center is a place on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch where a user can view their device notifications along with weather and stocks widgets (iPhone and iPod touch only)....

Update: Open Road Films just sent over another brand new clip from the upcoming JOBS film (below). In case you missed that YouTube hangout last week with the stars of the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, Ashton Kutcher and co-star Josh Gad debuted the latest trailer that includes several previously unreleased clips from the film. The movie will officially hit theatres later this month on August 16th, but on Thursday Ashton Kutcher and Josh Gad will be hosting a Reddit Ask Me Anything to answer questions about playing Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in the movie....
