Digitimes reports that Apple is set to unveil upgrades to both their MacBook Pro and iMac lines in the first half of 2011. Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley announced a new Force For Change initiative on ABC’s Good Morning America Tuesday, as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the Star Wars franchise. At CES 2020 today, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group has announced a new Bluetooth standard for audio. The new standard is called LE (Low Energy) Audio and is designed to enhance the Bluetooth audio experience with features like audio sharing, native support for hearing aids, and more. While much of the attention lately has been focused on Bluetooth 5, LE Audio is a separate standard designed solely for Bluetooth audio. Bloomberg has a story about New York-based books publisher John T. Colby suing Apple in federal court today over an alleged infringement of their ‘iBooks’ trademark: Patently Apple pointed in April of 2010 to Apple’s ‘iBooks’ and ‘iBookStore’ trademark applications with the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Back then, Apple asserted a claim of priority for iBooks based on Trinidad and Tobago application number 41872, filed earlier that year, probably in an effort to have their ‘iBooks’ trademark claim granted ahead of any possible lawsuit....

Apple’s attempt at 99-cent TV show rentals is off to a choppy start, with NBC Universal chief exec Jeff Zucker saying his network ain’t about to follow Fox and Walt Disney to rent movies via the service. Zucker argues that renting shows at these prices would undermine the value of the shows, “We do not think 99 cents is the right price point for our content. … We thought it would devalue our content,” Zucker said at a Goldman Sachs investor conference, as reported by Reuters....
